Delete your MySPRA account and data

This page explains how to request deletion of your Scottish Police Recreation Association (SPRA) account and associated personal data used by the MySPRA mobile app and SPRA digital services.

Membership cancellation vs account deletion

These are two different processes. If you only want to cancel your SPRA membership, you do not need to delete your account. Members who leave SPRA are moved to leaver status and can continue to sign in to the website with limited access, in line with SPRA's existing process.

Use the options on this page only if you want your SPRA account and associated personal data permanently removed after the 14-day grace period below.

How to request deletion

You can request account deletion in either of these ways:

  1. By email: send a request to spra@sprapol.co.uk with the subject Account deletion request – MySPRA. Include your full name, account email address, SPRA membership number (if known), and PSI number (if applicable). State clearly that you want your account and associated personal data deleted.
  2. From the MySPRA app: open More → Request account deletion. This will prepare an email to SPRA with your details for you to send.

What happens after you request deletion

  1. SPRA reviews your request and marks your account for deletion once confirmed.
  2. Your membership is cancelled and your account is moved to leaver status. During the 14-day grace period you can still sign in to the website with the same limited access available to other leavers.
  3. After the grace period, your account and associated personal data are permanently deleted or anonymised by an automated process. You will no longer be able to sign in.
  4. SPRA will confirm by email once your request has been received and again once deletion is complete.

What data is deleted

When deletion is completed, SPRA deletes or anonymises account-related personal data, including where applicable:

  • Account credentials (email address and password)
  • Name and contact details (address and phone number)
  • Membership details (SPRA membership number and membership type)
  • App-related data such as saved favourites, reviews, and mobile session tokens
  • Digital membership pass data associated with your account
  • Saved address book entries linked to your account

What data may be kept

Some information may be retained where SPRA has a legal or legitimate reason, including:

  • Order and payment records (for example ticket or pass purchases, billing details, card last four digits, and Stripe payment references) kept for accounting, tax, and legal obligations
  • Limited identity and transaction records kept where necessary to confirm past membership or respond to legal claims
  • Server and security logs that may be retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting

Retention period

Account deletion is completed within 14 days of your request being confirmed by SPRA. Certain financial and legal records may be kept longer where required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as accounting, tax, or dispute resolution.
