Lochinch Sports Pavilion, used as a Police Club since the early 1930’s, is a purpose-built members sports club, offering sporting and leisure facilities to members and the wider community.
The site at Lochinch was originally leased from the Pollok Estate in the 1930s, (at the princely sum of £13 per annum). The adoption of the Pavilion and Grounds was a welcome addition to the limited amenities and a significant advance in competition facilities available to serving officers at that time.
Records show that Police Sport has been running in Glasgow since 1873. Since the 1930s Police sports have taken place at Lochinch, prior to the conservation agreement established in respect of the operation of the estate with the National Trust for Scotland in 1939 and the gifting of the house and estate to the City of Glasgow in 1966.
The site has a long history of service to the community with the area, now covered by our rugby and football pitches, acting as a field hospital during and after the First World War. These supported Pollok House, which was used at that time as an auxiliary hospital, catering for injured soldiers returning from the trenches of France.
Police Sport in Glasgow reached its pinnacle in 1949/50, when over 60,000 people are understood to have attended the annual athletic competition in Glasgow hosted by the then Association.
Today Lochinch Sports Pavilion has some of the best sporting facilities and grounds operated by a Police Recreation Association in the country.
Situated just off Dumbreck Road in the beautiful surrounds of Pollok Park, Glasgow's largest and only Country Park within Glasgow, Lochinch Sports Pavilion is minutes from Glasgow City Centre and a haven for active visitors.
Hosting an all-weather 3G pitch and three grass pitches, operations today at the Lochinch Sports Pavilion are a far more ‘relaxed affair’.
Designed with players needs in mind, they are supported with private parking and dedicated changing and briefing facilities.
Most facilities within the Pavilion and Grounds are available for hire. To hire our pitches or any other service please contact us on 0141 427 5248 or 0141 532 4186 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, where the team will be happy to talk with you about bookings and prices.
